Wedding Portraits in Het Park and by the Maas
By Aleksandria Rudenko | Published 28 October 2026

Lucía and Daan came to Het Park straight after their ceremony, on a July afternoon in Rotterdam. We made their wedding portraits in Het Park first, then walked down to the Maas. Her parents had flown in from Colombia, and both families wanted a photo with the newlyweds.
The park lies at the foot of the Euromast, a short walk from the river. It is one of the green corners I love for my photoshoots in Rotterdam.
Wedding Portraits in Het Park
We began on a gravel path under tall trees, where the light stayed soft. Lucía wore a white jumpsuit with a long train, a white jacket and pearls in her hair. Daan wore a navy three-piece suit, a pale pink tie and a rose on his lapel. Within a minute, she was laughing so hard that she leaned away from him.

Next, they held up their hands to show their new rings. Then Lucía lifted her blush roses high above her head, while Daan simply beamed. There was room for quieter frames too: a kiss with the roses between them, and a portrait of Daan on the path.

Two Families in Het Park
A few steps further, beds of purple flowers lined the path. There I made Lucía’s portrait, pearls and all. After that, Daan pulled her in for a kiss, and she kicked up one heel. On the big lawn nearby, the Euromast rose above the trees behind them.

Then the families joined us. Lucía’s mother, in bright fuchsia with a red wrap trimmed with feathers, laughed at everything her husband said. Daan’s sister came with her two little girls in blush dresses. Finally, everyone squeezed together for the big group photo, with the children in front.

Cheers on the White Footbridge
Over the pond, a white footbridge turned into a stage all by itself. Two men from the family joined the couple, and on three, all four threw their arms up. Next came the whole group, from two countries, on one small bridge. Meanwhile, Daan’s little niece refused to let go of him or of her toy bunny.

On that bridge, Lucía also kicked one leg up with her bouquet in the air, and that frame opens this story. Before we left Het Park, we made one last wedding portrait by the water lilies, with the Euromast above them.

A Dance by the Erasmusbrug
Down on the Maas quay, the sun came out. Lucía took off her jacket, and the Erasmusbrug and the towers of the Kop van Zuid filled the sky behind them. Daan spun her around and then pulled her close, and both of them laughed out loud.

The families followed for one last group photo by the river. After that, the two of them walked on to the Veerhaven, where tall ships lie along the quay. Daan lifted Lucía off her feet with her train flying, and so the afternoon ended at half past four.

Wedding portraits in Het Park, a dance by the river and a lift among the masts: one afternoon, two families and a lot of laughter. For more places near the water, see my guide to photo spots in Rotterdam.
