When can I book a photoshoot at Keukenhof?

Keukenhof opens every spring for about eight weeks, from mid-March to early May. Photoshoots can be booked from late March until early May, when most of the garden is in bloom.

The exact opening dates change every year, so check the official Keukenhof website before you book.

When are the tulips in bloom?

Peak bloom usually falls around mid-April, depending on the weather. Early in the season the first tulips are opening, and by early May some beds are past their peak while plenty remain beautiful for portraits.

The colors and layout of the garden change every year and from week to week, so the displays in my portfolio may look different on the day of your photoshoot. During the session I guide you to the spots in full bloom.

Why are photoshoots in the late afternoon?

Keukenhof is busiest in the middle of the day. From around 16:00 the crowds thin out, and between 18:00 and 19:00 the garden is at its calmest, with softer, warmer light. That is why photoshoots start at 15:00, 16:30, or 18:00.

The later the slot, the more space we have to photograph without other visitors in the frame.

How far is Keukenhof from Amsterdam?

Keukenhof lies near Lisse, less than an hour from Amsterdam by car or bus. My travel costs are included in the price of the photoshoot.

Would you like to be photographed in Amsterdam as well? Book a separate photoshoot on a different day, so each session has its own time and light.

Do I need to buy entrance tickets?

Yes. My own entrance ticket is included, but you buy tickets for yourself and everyone joining the photoshoot.

Tickets can sell out on busy days, so book them as soon as your photoshoot is confirmed.

Can we be photographed in the tulip fields outside Keukenhof?

No. Most Dutch bulb growers do not allow visitors into their fields, to protect the bulbs and prevent the spread of disease.

The few fields that are open are hard to find, often charge a high entrance fee, and can only be reached by car. Keukenhof offers the same colors, with paths, ponds, and gardens that give your portraits far more variety.

A Route Through the Garden, Planned in Advance

Keukenhof covers 32 hectares, and its most photogenic corners change with the season. As your tulip photographer, I plan a compact route around what is in bloom that week, taking in flower beds, ponds, and quieter garden paths, so we spend the session photographing rather than searching. You receive a meeting point beforehand, so you do not need to plan anything yourself.

One Garden, Many Settings

Within a short walk, Keukenhof offers tulip fields in bold bands of color, blossoming trees, quiet water, and its historic windmill. That variety gives a single session plenty of range while we stay in one place, as with every photoshoot I do.
