A Route Planned for One Person

A route for a solo session is not the same as one for a couple or a family. As a portrait photographer in Amsterdam, I look at whether the surroundings support the portrait or pull too much attention away from you, where the light falls, and whether there is enough room to move naturally. Surroundings that sit well behind two people can easily overwhelm one. I plan the route so each setting connects to the next within a short walk, and you receive a suggested meeting point beforehand.

Where Variety in a Portrait Gallery Comes From

A varied set of portraits does not depend on visiting as many places as possible. Variety does not always require a new backdrop: a close portrait and a wider frame taken in the same spot can already feel very different. The same goes for whether you are still or moving, looking into the lens or away from it, and how much of the surroundings I let into the frame. When we have extra time, I would rather use it on a second setting chosen deliberately than simply spend it covering ground.

Portrait, Dating, and Confidence Photoshoots

These three ask different things of a session. When portraits are meant for social media or personal branding, I deliberately create both tighter and wider compositions, so the gallery gives you more flexibility in how the portraits are used. For a dating set I vary distance, expression, movement, and the rhythm of the session, so the gallery feels varied rather than repetitive. A confidence photoshoot moves the other way: fewer settings, more time between frames, and time spent letting something settle rather than looking for the next backdrop.
