For one conference day at the Mövenpick, the Customer Institute brought its Global Conference to Amsterdam. It was part of the Customer Centricity World Series. I photographed it from the empty room before nine to the conversations in the breaks.
A full program in one room is a classic job for my business photography in Amsterdam. The stage matters, but so do the faces at the tables and the breaks in between.

The Mövenpick on Conference Day
The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre stands on the IJ, right next to the Bimhuis. On the morning of this conference day at the Mövenpick, I began outside under a clear blue sky. Then I went in to photograph the room while it was still empty. Arriving early is part of how I work, because nobody stands in the way yet.
A screen said the live stream would begin at nine. Meanwhile, yellow-green light patterns played across the ceiling, and each round table waited with water bottles, notepads and pens. For an organizer, these quiet frames show the room exactly as planned.

Keynote, Panel and Interview
The host led the program from the stage, a tablet in her hands and the sponsor wall behind her. Then a keynote speaker took the stage in a checked blazer, talking with both hands. That frame opens this story. The gold logo and the warm spots gave every speaker the same calm background, so I could focus on hands and faces.

Three women also took the armchairs for a panel discussion. During an interview on stage, a speaker in a white blazer raised her hand high. Beside her, the man in a white shirt held the microphone. Meanwhile, the questions carried on at the tables.

Round Tables at the Customer Centricity Conference
Between the talks, the delegates worked at round tables, and those conversations often turned into the liveliest part of the day. Round tables also make good frames, because every face turns toward the person speaking. I moved quietly from table to table, so nobody had to pause for the camera.

One delegate explained an idea with both hands, while another laughed at something across the table. On the side, glass jars of cookies, marshmallows and gummies kept everyone going until the next session.

Small Talk Between Sessions
During the breaks, the room filled with small talk, and one delegate laughed out loud in the middle of a conversation. Those are the frames that show how a day really felt. A good conference story needs the breaks as much as the keynotes.

In a quieter moment, the host stopped for a chat of her own, with the stage glowing behind her. For me, that is the calm frame that closes a conference day at the Mövenpick.

The series also brought its awards evening to the same hotel. I photographed that night too: the awards gala at the Mövenpick.
