Engagement Photos in the Amstelpark, Among Rhododendrons
By Aleksandria Rudenko | Published 1 November 2026

Megan and Liam flew in from Canada with a brand-new ring and one wish: engagement photos in the Amstelpark. Megan grew up with rhododendrons in her mother’s garden. So a park with a whole valley of them was an easy choice.
The Amstelpark lies in the south of the city, far from the busy canals. Quiet green corners like these often set the scene for my couple photoshoots in Amsterdam, especially when the park is in bloom.
Engagement Photos Among Pink Rhododendrons
We started just after four, in front of a wall of pink rhododendrons taller than both of them. Megan wore a cream cardigan over a black skirt, and Liam a white shirt with sand-colored pants. Their light clothes stood out against all that dark green. The Amstelpark has more than a hundred kinds of rhododendron, and the bushes along this path were still full of flowers.

A Ring Worth Pointing At
Within a minute, Liam pointed at the ring, and Megan held it up with a grin. Then I asked them to hold each other and forget about me for a while. Her hand found his cheek, their foreheads touched, and the ring sparkled between them.

A Winding Path and a Quiet Bench
Next, we followed a winding path through the rhododendrons, hand in hand. A little farther on, we found a paved corner with a wooden bench, tucked between low hedges and a bush with orange flowers. Megan leaned her head on Liam’s shoulder, and he kissed her cheek. A moment later, she burst out laughing at something he whispered.

Small Details Under a Tall Tree
Still, engagement photos in the Amstelpark are not only about flowers. Farther along stood a tall conifer with a thick, rough trunk. First they stood side by side at its foot, small next to a tree like that. Then I asked for their hands on the bark, with Megan’s ring on top. Finally, I balanced the ring itself on a pine cone I picked up from the ground; up close, its scales look like warm copper.

Last Engagement Photos in the Amstelpark
We ended under the drooping branches of a big conifer, almost like a green tent. Megan laid her hand on Liam’s chest. Then she whispered something behind her hand and kissed him.

As a last idea, I asked them to wave at the camera, as if to everyone back home in Canada. Both of them laughed so hard that a serious face was out of the question.

Then Liam lifted Megan off the ground, and she kicked one heel up behind her. That lift, at 16:41, closed their engagement photos in the Amstelpark.
