Newly Engaged Among the Daffodils at Keukenhof
By Aleksandria Rudenko | Published 28 October 2026

Ethan proposed to Claire on a bright April afternoon, in the woods where the daffodils at Keukenhof grow. Right after the yes, I loaded a roll of Kodak Gold 200 for their first hour as an engaged couple.
Daffodils have always been Claire’s favorite flower, so Ethan picked this corner of the garden on purpose. Days like this are what my tulip photoshoots at Keukenhof are for, even when the tulips take a back seat.
Daffodils at Keukenhof Under Bare Trees
Keukenhof is famous for its tulips, but in early April the woods belong to the daffodils. Yellow and white flowers covered the ground between the trunks, and the sun came straight through the bare branches. In the widest frame, the two of them look small in all that yellow.

Claire held out her hand, and Ethan took it at arm’s length. Deeper in the woods, he swept her off her feet among the flowers.

A Red Bench and a New Ring
A red bench stood by the path, and it gave us the warmest frames of the afternoon. Claire sat on Ethan’s knee in her white lace dress, and he wore a cream sweater. For a while they forgot about me, which is exactly what I hope for. They also looked up at me, smiling, with her ring in the sun.

For the detail, their hands met above white daffodils with pale orange cups, the ring right in the middle. Ethan had kept that ring hidden until the last minute; if you are planning the same, this is how a surprise proposal shoot works.

A Last Walk Between the Daffodils
Between frames, the three of us huddled over my camera and laughed in the sun. A short video caught a few seconds of it.
On a narrow bark path, Claire led Ethan by the hand, with flowers on both sides. Before we said goodbye, we took a selfie together, her ring hand raised for the camera. It was a fitting end to an hour among the daffodils at Keukenhof.
